The 2025 Atlas Strongman Classic unfolded in Ghent, Belgium, on Jan. 26, 2025. Furthermore, thirteen athletes from five countries competed in five demanding events. Moreover, these included the Block Press Medley, Dinnie Stone Medley, Bag Toss Medley, DOTS Squat, and Sandbag Loading Race. However, each event tested more than just raw strength; they also required strategy and endurance.
Additionally, Laurens LaPiere triumphed on home turf, amassing 59 points out of a possible 65. Also, his consistent performances across each event kept him at the top. As a result, LaPiere secured the overall victory. Every lift mattered, and he rose to the occasion, proving his dominance on the day.
Meanwhile, Siebe Janssen finished with 58 points, just one behind LaPiere. Moreover, he stayed close throughout the competition, remaining in striking distance until the final event. Ultimately, despite his valiant efforts, Janssen had to settle for second place, falling just short of the lead.
Siebe Janssen dominated the first event, pressing all four blocks overhead in just 36.83 seconds. His speed and power set the pace for the competition. Viatcheslav Koda followed, completing the medley in 45.82 seconds.
Laurens LaPiere stayed in contention with a time of 46.59 seconds. Meanwhile, Bartosz Szczepankiewicz managed three blocks in 24.2 seconds, securing fourth place. Several competitors cleared three blocks, but only fractions of a second separated them.
At the lower end, Joni Alles, Niels Vunderink, and Sascha Nijs lifted only one block. Louka Konings rounded out the group with a 13.11-second lift. The early struggles signaled a long day ahead for the lower-ranked athletes.
Siebe Janssen dominated the bag toss, clearing all six bags in 37.93 seconds. His precision and speed put him ahead. Laurens LaPiere followed, but he managed only five bags in 14.7 seconds.
Bartosz Szczepankiewicz landed four bags in 12.58 seconds, just edging out Edgardo Landaverde. Several athletes struggled with the heavier bags. Per Berns and Joni Alles completed three, with slight time differences.
At the bottom, Viatcheslav Koda and Danilo Podkrajac managed only two bags. Jeremie Godret failed to register a successful toss. The event reshuffled the standings as Janssen regained ground on LaPiere.
Maël Jacquemet excelled in the squat event, scoring 166.53 DOTS points. His technique and efficiency gave him a clear edge. Bartosz Szczepankiewicz followed with 160.95 points, keeping the race tight.
Laurens LaPiere maintained consistency with 154.39 points. Meanwhile, Edgardo Landaverde and Viatcheslav Koda pushed close behind. Per Berns and Siebe Janssen hovered in the 140-point range.
Lower in the rankings, Danilo Podkrajac and Niels Vunderink struggled to stay competitive. Louka Konings and Joni Alles barely passed 120 points. At the bottom, Jeremie Godret finished with only 36.68 points.
