Mitchell Hooper, the two-time defending Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) champion, started the weekend strong in Columbus, OH. Heading into day two at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, he held a four-point lead. After a solid performance on day one, he secured second place in the Elephant Bar Deadlift, third in the Overhead Gauntlet, and first in the Timber Carry. Meanwhile, day two kicked off with the Big Jerk event. In this challenge, each competitor had four attempts to establish their maximum behind-the-neck press. It was a true test of strength and technique, pushing the athletes to their limits. However, not all athletes were able to continue. Maxime Boudreault withdrew from the competition before the event, ultimately finishing with only six points.
Despite this setback, the competition remained intense. Hooper’s lead was still intact, but the other athletes were determined to close the gap. As the Big Jerk event unfolded, it became clear that every point was crucial. With this in mind, the contenders fought hard to push through to day two.
Ultimately, the results from the Big Jerk event and the remaining performances would determine who could challenge Hooper. Although Hooper maintained his strong lead, other athletes’ performances continued to keep the race alive. In the end, Hooper’s early advantage made him the athlete to watch, but the competition was far from over.

- Lucas Hatton — 247 kilograms
- Mitchell Hooper — 242 kilograms
- Trey Mitchell — 242 kilograms
- Hafthor Björnsson — 232 kilograms

- Evan Singleton — 232 kilograms
- Tom Stoltman — 232 kilograms

Lucas Hatton led the competition with a massive 247 kilograms. Then, Mitchell Hooper and Trey Mitchell both lifted 242 kilograms, securing strong performances. Following that, Hafthor Björnsson hit 232 kilograms, just ahead of Austin Andrade, Evan Singleton, and Tom Stoltman, all of whom also reached 232 kilograms. Next, Bobby Thompson and Nick Guardione both achieved 215 kilograms, rounding out the top ten. Unfortunately, Maxime Boudreault withdrew from the event.

2025 Arnold Strongman Classic Big Jerk Results
Guardione opened the 2025 ASC Big Jerk competition with a successful 190-kilogram lift. Then, Thompson followed, effortlessly clearing 202 kilograms. Next, Stoltman matched Thompson’s weight. However, Andrade missed 202 kilograms on his first try but succeeded on his second attempt. Meanwhile, Björnsson had no trouble with 202 kilograms, securing it on his first attempt.
Following that, Mitchell hit 215 kilograms to get on the board. Singleton easily matched it, as did Hooper. Stoltman, however, missed 215 kilograms initially but recovered to lock it out. Although the down signal seemed premature, Thompson completed his 215-kilogram lift. In contrast, Andrade missed 215 kilograms on his first attempt but nailed it on his second. Additionally, Björnsson locked it out on his first attempt.
Guardione’s 215-kilogram lift was his best of the event. Subsequently, Hooper was the first to clear 222 kilograms, followed by Stoltman, who matched the same weight. Unfortunately, Thompson missed 222 kilograms and bowed out. On the other hand, Andrade cleared 222 kilograms on his return. Guardione couldn’t make 222 kilograms on his final attempt.
Finally, Hatton started strong with a 227-kilogram split jerk, shouting “Easy!” after the lift. Björnsson missed his first attempt but nailed the second. Mitchell raised the bar to 232 kilograms, completing it perfectly. Singleton matched Mitchell’s weight, while Hooper also locked out 232 kilograms. Stoltman’s 232-kilogram lift was his best of the event. Additionally, Andrade went four-for-four with 232 kilograms, and Björnsson matched the same weight.
Then, Hatton raised the bar to 237 kilograms on his second attempt and made it look easy. Singleton tried 242 kilograms twice but couldn’t stabilize the lift. Meanwhile, Hooper locked out 242 kilograms with confidence. Mitchell followed, holding the 242-kilogram barbell overhead for what seemed like forever. Ultimately, Hatton sealed the win with a flawless 247-kilogram lift.
