The 2024 Rogue Strongman Invitational kicked off in Aberdeen, Scotland, with Mitchell Hooper sitting atop the leaderboard after two events. Furthermore, thanks to back-to-back runner-up finishes, Hooper was in strong contention as he prepared for the Inver Challenge (Event 3). Moreover, in this event, each strongman was tasked with lifting five stones, ranging from 275 to 420 pounds. Clearly, the heat order played a critical role in determining the leaderboard.
In addition, Hafthor Björnsson set the pace early, completing the challenge in a record-breaking 27.34 seconds. As a result, his dominant performance earned him his second event win of the day, leaving the rest of the field scrambling to match his time. Although Tom Stoltman, known for his stone lifting prowess, posted a time of 36.57 seconds, it wasn’t enough to fend off Björnsson’s blistering run.
Furthermore, Mitchell Hooper, the defending champion, closed out the event with a strong performance. However, despite his impressive 31.8-second finish, it wasn’t enough to overtake Björnsson. Ultimately, as the heats unfolded, the competition proved fierce, but Björnsson’s early performance in the third event solidified his place at the top of the leaderboard.

2024 Rogue Strongman Invitational Inver Challenge Recap
Hoath opened the event, quickly loading the first three stones without any issue. However, he then struggled on the fourth stone, as his forearms took a beating while time ran out. Next, Kordiyaka took the stage, speeding through the first three stones before pausing to pat his arms. With that preparation, he successfully loaded the fourth and fifth stones, setting an early benchmark.
Then, Luke Stoltman made quick work of the first three stones and paused briefly to catch his breath before loading the fourth. Yet, he couldn’t secure the fifth stone before the clock expired. Afterward, Thompson took the floor, tossing the first two stones and carefully loading the third. Despite his initial momentum, he struggled with the 400-pound stone and signaled his finish as time ran out.
At the midpoint, Tom Stoltman, known as the “King of the Stones,” sped through the first three stones and completed all five in just over 36 seconds, briefly claiming the lead. Right after, Björnsson stepped up and delivered a standout performance, finishing in a record 27.34 seconds and taking the top spot.
Meanwhile, Ragg adopted a more methodical approach but struggled with the fourth stone and waved off after two attempts. In the eighth heat, Singleton managed the fourth stone but, after struggling with the fifth, decided to call it with 15 seconds left.
Soon after, Evans faced difficulties; he appeared injured on the third stone and immediately waved off. Finally, Hooper closed the event with a smooth run, finishing just behind Björnsson’s record-breaking time and ahead of Tom Stoltman.
