Day 2 (March 17th)
Event 3 — Power Medley
At the 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic UK, the power medley event marked the beginning of day two. Athletes faced a daunting challenge: a 454-kilogram (1,000-pound) Yoke Carry followed by progressively heavier dumbbells for overhead pressing with one arm.
Newcomer Lucas Hatton emerged as the event’s standout performer, successfully completing the Yoke Carry and all three dumbbells. Hatton’s impressive display hinted at the emergence of a potential Strongman star, leaving seasoned competitors in awe.
Following closely behind Hatton, Mitchell Hooper secured second place. Despite lifting two of the dumbbells with remarkable strength, Hooper fell short of completing the final rep due to technicalities observed by main judge Zydrunas Savickas.
Despite facing challenges from a torn pec, Hafthor Bjornsson showcased resilience by claiming third place. While overhead press events pose a weakness for Bjornsson, his exceptional speed and determination allowed him to excel in the Yoke Carry and secure third position.

Event 4 — Bag Over Bar
The bag over bar event, the fourth in the 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic UK, underwent alterations to increase its challenge for athletes. Participants were restricted to using one arm to lift and toss a lead-filled bag over a beam, with the beam’s height rising with each round.
Despite its seemingly small size, the bag weighed a hefty 25 kilograms (56 pounds). Hafthor Bjornsson, favored for this event due to holding the World Record, clinched victory with a throw of 5.79 meters (19 feet), narrowing the gap to Mitchell Hooper in the overall standings.
Three competitors, Mitchell Hooper, Maxime Boudreault, and Oskar Ziółkowski, tied for second place, each struggling to surpass a throw height of 5.49 meters. Despite their attempts to match Bjornsson’s performance, none managed to do so.

Event 5— Deadlift
In the final event, athletes faced the deadlift for maximum repetitions, with a weight set at 350 kilograms (771.6 pounds) and without the aid of deadlift suits. With just 60 seconds to lock out as many reps as possible, the pressure was on.
Furthermore, Hafthor Bjornsson reaffirmed his dominance in the deadlift, effortlessly locking out 10 repetitions within the time limit. His remarkable feat showcased his unrivaled strength in the sport.
Also, despite recently recovering from a knee injury, Rauno Heinla delivered an impressive performance, securing second place with 9 repetitions. Moreover, his resilience and determination were evident on the stage.

Day One (March 16th)
Event 1 — Austrian Oak
The Austrian Oak, an iconic wooden Log, required athletes to lift it from the floor and overhead press for as many reps as possible. Moreover, athletes could choose between a 195-kg (430-lb) or 175-kg (385-lb) Log, with a single rep of the heavier log ranking higher.
Furthermore, both Mitchell Hooper and debutant Lucas Hatton impressed by locking out three repetitions each, sharing the top spot and points. Despite Hooper’s attempt at a fourth rep, he fell short of locking it out.
Additionally, Bobby Thompson claimed third place as the only other athlete to lift the heavy log. Though he struggled to stabilize the weight, his persistence paid off.

Event 2 — Farmer’s Carry
The Farmer’s Carry event at the 2024-Arnold Strongman Classic UK tasked the athletes with picking up a 400-pound (181-kilogram) implement in each hand and carrying it for the maximum distance possible. However, the time cap for the event was 60 seconds.
Mitchell Hooper won the second event of day one as well, having displayed incredible strategy on the Farmer’s Walk. Also, before starting the event, Hooper made sure to leave pieces of chalk next to the course. So, when he dropped the implements, he made sure to chalk up his hands again, thus allowing himself to grip the handles better. In the end, Hooper managed to carry the implements for 29.2 meters, just enough to beat Hafthor Bjornsson.
Additionally, although grip strength was not one of Hafthor Bjornsson’s greatest assets in the past, it now seems to be. Moreover, his performance on the Farmer’s Carry was nothing short of exceptional, as he managed to carry the implements for 28.6 meters. This was enough to secure him a second-place finish.
Bobby Thompson once again found himself in third-place, with a total distance of 27.1 meters. Moreover, he was far ahead of everyone that was placed behind him, but he was not close enough to threaten Hooper and Bjornsson for their top two spots. However, the consistency that Thompson displayed is truly remarkable.
