This past weekend was abuzz in the world of bodybuilding, with various events taking place globally. A notable highlight was the 2023 Tokyo Pro held on August 27th. Situated in Tokyo, Japan, this distinguished competition attracted elite contenders across three categories: Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, and Bikini.
A New Route to Olympia: Only Gold Earners Proceed
A shift in the qualification dynamics this year has intensified the competition. Gone is the point system of yesteryears. Athletes can no longer accumulate points over a series of competitions to secure a spot at the Olympia stage. This year, the golden path is singular: win a Pro show. Such stringent criteria meant that every athlete in Tokyo had their eyes set on one prize – the coveted gold.
Eyes Set on Orlando: The Upcoming Olympia Showdown
As the world of bodybuilding marks its calendar for the 2023 Mr. Olympia event scheduled for November 2-5 in Orlando, Florida, the anticipation continues to build. This year, the grand showdown will unfold within the spacious confines of the Orange County Convention Center.
Tokyo’s Golden Trio Headed to Orlando
After fervent rounds of competition in Tokyo, three names emerged as the undisputed champions. Shicheng Jin reigned supreme in the Classic Physique category. The Men’s Physique crown went to a jubilant Joven Sagabain. And in the Bikini segment, Yurika Shigemoto stood unrivaled. These victorious athletes now look forward to their next challenge: confronting and potentially dethroning the reigning Olympia champions in their respective divisions.
