SUBIC BAY, PHILIPPINES 🇵🇠— On October 21, the 2023 Musclecontest International Philippines Pro brought top-tier bodybuilding talent to the shores of Subic Bay. As a qualifying show for the 2024 Mr. Olympia, the event held major significance. Therefore, athletes in the Men’s Physique division showed up ready to battle for the limited Olympia invites. Notably, only the winner would earn a ticket to bodybuilding’s biggest stage.
Meanwhile, the bodybuilding world is still waiting for more details on the 2024 Mr. Olympia. So far, official announcements remain limited. Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped competitors from chasing early qualifications. In fact, many have intensified their efforts as the qualification season narrows. As a result, every show before year’s end feels like a make-or-break moment.
At the same time, attention is also locked on the upcoming 2023 Mr. Olympia. From November 2 to 5, the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida 🇺🇸, will host the top names in the sport. Already, the excitement is building across the fitness community. Clearly, the Subic Bay contest was just one key stop on the road to the Olympia — with far more drama still to unfold.

Men’s Physique
The Men’s Physique division brought serious intensity to the stage in the Philippines 🇵ðŸ‡. As the finals unfolded, Alejandro Ruiz Borrego quickly stood out. Notably, his V-taper was sharp, and his front conditioning was especially crisp. Previously, Borrego competed at the 2022 Tunisia Pro Show, where he placed eighth.
However, rising contender Joven Sagabain refused to be overshadowed. In fact, his muscularity, balance, and capped shoulders made a strong impression from the start. Most recently, Sagabain earned gold at the 2023 Tokyo Pro. Then, during the final comparisons and posedown, he pushed even harder.
Ultimately, Sagabain claimed first place and earned his 2024 Olympia qualification. Meanwhile, Borrego secured a respectable second. Finally, Jingyu Xu rounded out the top three, completing a memorable night in Subic Bay.
