The 2023 Chicago Pro, the highly anticipated event of the weekend, took center stage in Chicago, Illinois from July 21-22. As a prestigious Olympia qualifier for this year’s blockbuster show, it showcased remarkable athletes from ten divisions, including Men’s Open, 212 Bodybuilding, Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Women’s Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Bikini, Women’s Physique, and Wellness.

To secure a coveted spot in the illustrious Mr. Olympia competition, the pinnacle event of the year, competitors must meet the qualification criteria by Oct. 9. This year, they face a more challenging journey with limited time and opportunities to qualify, making the pursuit of the ultimate stage more demanding than ever before. Notably, last year’s Chicago Pro champion, Antoine Vaillant, has decided not to compete, setting the stage for a new champion to be crowned in the Open class.

The 212 Bodybuilding division at the 2023 Chicago Pro Show ignited a fervent response from the audience on Friday night. Jason Nguyen and Chris Jones emerged as frontrunners, drawing attention for their impressive size and finely-tuned conditioning. Enduring through numerous intense comparisons, both athletes displayed unwavering determination.

Jason Nguyen’s previous appearance at the 2022 NPC North American Championships earned him a well-deserved first-place finish, while Chris Jones showcased his stage prowess with a victory at the 2022 Amateur Olympia in Orlando. Each competitor brought their absolute best to the stage, but in the end, it was Chris Jones who triumphed, securing his coveted ticket to the 2023 Olympia.

Jason Nguyen’s remarkable performance earned him a deserving second place, while Mohamed Embaby and Kevin Johnson impressed the judges, securing third and fourth honors, respectively. The intense competition and unforgettable displays of talent in the 212 Bodybuilding division left fans cheering for more at this unforgettable event.

Intense Competition Unfolds in Classic Physique at the 2023 Chicago Pro Show

The stakes were high in the Classic Physique division as competitors vied for the opportunity to face Chris Bumstead on the grand Olympia stage. From the moment they stepped on stage, it was evident that the athletes meant business. The level of competition was unparalleled, and both prejudging and the finals were abuzz with electrifying comparisons.

Standing at the forefront were Matthew Greggo and Marcus Perry, commanding the center stage with their exceptional displays of dry conditioning and awe-inspiring upper bodies. Matthew Greggo had already enjoyed a busy season, securing a respectable fourth-place finish at the 2023 Lenda Murray Atlanta Pro just last weekend. On the other hand, Marcus Perry last graced the stage at the 2022 Olympia contest, though without placing.

The finals were nothing short of a nail-biter, but in the end, it was Marcus Perry who emerged triumphant, claiming the first-place honor. Matthew Greggo demonstrated his prowess and finished a commendable second, while Krimo Ammari and Dylan Bursey impressed the judges, securing the third and fourth positions, respectively.

The Women’s Bodybuilding division proved to be a highlight of the 2023 Chicago Pro Show, with competitors delivering an exhilarating round of comparisons. Throughout prejudging and the finals, two outstanding athletes, Jessica E. Martin and Kristina Mendoza, stood out with their remarkable displays of strength and aesthetics, particularly showcasing impressive shoulders and well-sculpted lower bodies.

Jessica E. Martin has consistently shown her prowess in Women’s Bodybuilding, having recently competed at the 2023 Optimum Classic Pro, where she secured a commendable ninth-place finish. Known for her fierce determination on stage, she once again brought her A-game, captivating the audience with her performance. Kristina Mendoza, another top contender, had her sights set on victory. Having competed at the Chicago Pro two years ago in 2021, where she finished as the runner-up, Mendoza was determined to seize the opportunity this time around.

In a thrilling conclusion, Kristina Mendoza emerged as the victor, claiming her first Chicago Pro title and qualifying for this year’s Olympia. Jessica E. Martin displayed incredible talent and finished the show in a well-deserved second place.

The second day of the Chicago Pro brought a flurry of activity in the Figure category, with competitors Adela Ondrejovicova and Autumn Cleveland stealing the limelight. Both athletes showcased impressive posing skills, combined with their slim waists, striking v-tapers, and remarkable muscularity, leaving both fans and judges captivated.

Ondrejovicova came into this event riding a wave of momentum, having recently clinched the Figure title at the 2023 Lenda Murray Atlanta Pro. She presented what could arguably be her best package yet. Cleveland, on the other hand, brought a balanced and exceptionally conditioned physique, following a closely contested second place at the 2023 Vancouver Pro.

Despite the stiff competition, Autumn Cleveland clinched the Figure title with a performance that left no doubt in the judges’ minds. Adela Ondrejovicova claimed a well-deserved second place, while Edith Driver and Shanice Abrams secured the third and fourth positions, respectively.

Wellness Division Shines at the 2023 Chicago Pro Show

The Wellness division has captured significant attention in the IFBB Pro League, and at the 2023 Chicago Pro Show, the competition was intense. During the prejudging rounds, Amy Li and Danai Theodoropoulou stood out with their round, shapely, and symmetrical physiques, making the judges’ decisions tough as they went into the finals.

Amy Li’s last appearance on stage was at the 2022 Shawn Ray Hawaiian Classic Pro, where she secured a respectable 10th place. Her formidable opponent, Danai Theodoropoulou, entered the competition with great momentum, having achieved an impressive second place at the 2022 EVLS Prague Pro.

The comparisons in the Wellness division were closely contested, reflecting the exceptional talent and dedication of the athletes. However, after several intense rounds of judging, Danai Theodoropoulou emerged victorious, claiming the gold. Amy Li’s impressive performance earned her the runner-up position, adding to the excitement of the division.
